Senis is the app for campaign volunteers and team leaders in Papua New Guinea. You can only use it with an invite from your team leader. This page explains, in plain words, what the app knows about you, where that information is kept, who can see it, and how to have it deleted.
The app is run by the campaign's HQ team.
- Your name — so your team knows who you are.
- Your mobile number — you sign in with it, and it is how the campaign can reach you.
- Your ward and team — the area you volunteer in and who you report to.
- Your role — volunteer, team leader, centre captain or ward co-ordinator.
- Your photo — only if you choose to add one when you are registered.
- Your messages — what you write in your team's threads, and any photo or voice message you add to one.
- Your activity — tasks done, surveys collected, people you recruited, and the points you earn for them. If you use the HQ dashboard, it may count how often each screen is opened, by role only (never by person), to improve the app. A role that only one or two people hold can still show their own use.
- A notification address for your phone — only if you turn notifications on. It lets the campaign send messages to your phone. It is not your phone number.
That is the full list. The app does not track your location, does not read your contacts, and does not look at anything else on your phone. The camera is used only when you scan a QR code, take a registration photo, or add a photo to a message or a report to HQ. The microphone is used only while you record a voice message, and stops when you finish.
Your details and messages travel along your reporting line only: your team leader, the leaders above them, and campaign HQ. Volunteers in other teams cannot see you. Messages stay inside the threads you are part of — there is no public feed. A photo or voice message is seen and heard by the same people as the words beside it, and is never sent to an AI service.
- Everything is encrypted in transit — information moving between your phone and our servers cannot be read on the way.
- It is stored on secure servers in Sydney, Australia.
- Strict access rules on the database mean each person can only read what their role allows.
- We never sell your information, and we never share it with anyone outside the campaign and the service providers who run the platform for us.
Notifications are off until you turn them on in the app. When a message arrives, the notification on your lock screen shows only which thread it is in — for example "New message in Joe's branch" — never the message text or who sent it. Notifications are encrypted on the way to your phone, so Google cannot read them either. You can turn them off any time in the app or in your phone's settings.
When you collect survey answers from people in your community, those answers are the campaign's records, and the same protections apply: they are encrypted in transit, stored in Sydney, and only shown to campaign staff whose role allows it. Where AI tools help the campaign understand what people are saying, names and phone numbers are removed from the text before it is sent to the AI provider. Raw records are deleted automatically after 180 days, and sensitive records after 30 days.
Photos and voice messages in team threads are deleted automatically after 180 days.
We keep your volunteer profile while you are part of the campaign. When you leave — or ask to be removed — your account is switched off and you disappear from team lists. You can also ask for your records to be fully deleted:
How to delete your account- You can see your own details on your ID card in the app.
- You can turn notifications on or off at any time.
- You can sign out at any time — rejoining needs a fresh invite.
- You can ask what information the campaign holds about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted.
For any of these, talk to your team leader or email support@senis.app.

If how we handle your information changes, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Big changes will also be announced in the app's news feed.
